Special Feature-Special Railway Station.
Good Morning,
This is a Special Feature for the Merriwa Railway Station
This Railway Station is currently looked after by the MRSI
MRSI-Merriwa Railway Society Incorporated, is a group of Volunteers who have been restoring the Buildings and the Railway Precinct, since, November 2010.
There has been many things done by the Volunteers, and, here is a couple of Photos, taken in September 2009.
As many people have found out, Restoring these Heritage Buildings is a very Physical job, but also very rewarding. I have been involved in Heritage Railways since 2001 and have spent many rewarding days at Projects around the state of NSW. You arrive Fresh and relaxed, and you go home exhausted because you've spent a big day working at a Community Project that is the benefit of all the people of the State of Nsw.
Here is a Photo taken in July 2013, early in the Morning, where the grass crushed from the Ice on the ground.
If you would like to access Photos taken in 2019, Please go to this link,

There is also lots of info on the Facebook Page about what the group is doing,
With regular updates done by one of the members.
Here's a couple of Photos Taken in October 2009.
Here's an interesting Photo. The Photo is from Ian Dunn's Collection.
The Group's sign at the front of the Property.
June Long Weekend, A Pipe Band played at the Railway Station during the Festival of Fleeces event.
This was in June 2013.
Here is a Photo of the sign on the Platform, made by the Merriwa mens Shed..
Platform Scales, Donated by Stephen Preston, the son of Author Ron Preston.
The Railway Seat was donated by a member of the Local Community. Many thanks for that.
The steel Post of the above sign was made by a Local Engineering Company, and the name boards were made the same as the ones on the Station Building.
This Public Loading Platform was rebuilt by members of the group, using the existing posts that were in the ground.
Rosemary Plants planted along the Driveway into the Station.
A better Photo of the sign at the front Gate.
The site is looking great in this Photo, still lots of work to do, but the Volunteers are working on several different Projects and I am sure that in the next 12 months the site will look even better.
Many Many Thanks to all the Volunteers who have helped with this Project.
Here's some Photos taken in June 2017.
Here's some old Black and white Photos, that may interest you.
The awning on the Station building was put on after 1926, so this Photo may have been in the late 20's
Photo from the Merriwa Historical Society Collection.
The last 5 Photos are believed to be from the Merriwa Historical Society Collection as well.
Some Photos taken at Sunset when some Volunteers stayed over for a 2 day working Bee.
These Photos were taken on the 9th and 10th of March 2012.
Here's some trivia for you.

Construction started, with the sod turning event in June 1912.
A re-enactment of the sod turning was held in June 2012.
