Special Feature-Railway Photographer.

Good Afternoon,

Today is the 10th of July, 2020.

This Write Up/ Story is about Leon Oberg.

Leon is a Railway Photographer, with a lot of Experience.

He has been taking Photos since 1957.

My calculation is that he has been shooting Trains with his Camera/Camera's for approximately 63 Years.

Has had several Books Printed, and until recently, was one of Editor's of the Track and Signal magazine.

The Man in action. A very capable Photographer in my opinion.

Leon is based south of Sydney in Rural New South wales, started taking Photos with his Mothers Kodak 116 Box Camera.

He bought his own 620 Brownie Box Camera in 1958.

In 1962 the Brownie Box Camera was replaced with a Kodak Retina Camera.

The Photo above indicates that he has progressed to a Canon Camera at some stage in the Past.

A Photo taken yesterday, at one of his regular photographic places I would say.

This Photo was taken in July 2010.
The Locomotive above, was brought out on to the turntable for a presentation morning tea for the owner and his supporters.

In retirement, Leon has become a Mentor to his Grandsons, with Bailey being a standout Student.
Also during his Career he trained many Newspaper photography cadets.

In Leon's own words,

"I was a news photographer/photo journalist/newspaper magazine editor during 45 years newspaper life and upon retirement associate editor for the rail industry publication glossy, Track and Signal magazine.
I have been the Australian content editor for the globally circulating Railway out of England for a decade.
Used Nikon F/F2 film cameras most of my professional working life and while I own a Canon digital, have been using more Nikon digital SLRs for 10 years because I find Nikon sensors and the accuracy of Nikon settings means one has to do very little to a Nikon file than with the Canon.

Trained many newspaper photography cadets.
I live in Goulburn.

Hope some of this tells a wider story."

So you can see by what is written above, Leon has had lots of Experience.

I would like to take this opportunity to Thank Leon for allowing me to write about his Photography.

All Photos in this write up are the Copyright of Leon Oberg.
