Railway Stations and Tourism.
Good morning,
Today it is Wednesday the 7th of October, 2020.
This Post is about increasing Tourism at Railway Stations.
Why would you Visit a Railway Station?
You may want to do research on the History of the Station.
You may have a Relative who worked in the Railways, or worked at the Station you are visiting.
When you visit a Railway Station you may want to Take Photographs to record the Building/Buildings via your Camera.
A trip via a Train may be your way of Visiting a Railway Station.
So you can see there are many ways to visit a Railway Station, and many things you can do when you get there.
Behind the Train in this Photo is the Former Newcastle Railway Station, the Main section of it being built in 1858. Old Buildings, in my Opinion have a Mystique about them. Buildings like this one were Built by Real Tradesmen, who new their Craft backwards. In Queensland, Heritage and Historical Railway Stations are very important, and they are Promoted well by the Government Heritage Department.
So the Challenge is.
Have you Visited a Railway Station Lately?
Will you Visit a Railway Station Soon?
When you get to the Railway Station you are Visiting, will you find out about it's History, Like, when was it planned to be built, when was building started, or, when was the building completed.
At the Werris Creek Railway Station, there are 6 different things you can do. Go Visit and find out what they are. It is quite an exciting Railway Station Complex.
Some Railway Stations are being Restored, like the one at Merriwa.
Some Railway Stations are Leased by a Local Community group, So when you Visit it a Railway Station find out if there is a group who is in charge of the Upkeep of the Railway Station. They may want your help as a Volunteer.
The Station below is going through a Restoration process at the moment and is going to be used as a Multi-purpose Venue when completed. This restoration is being Funded by the NSW Government, through the Drought assistance Plan.
I hope this write up encourages you to go and Visit a Railway Station.
