Girilambone Railway Station-22-12-2020.

Good Evening,

This is an up to date Write up about the Restoration Project on the Girilambone Railway Station, First Opened on the 2nd of September 1884.

Passenger services stopped in 1986.

I visited the Station on Thursday the 17th of december for a Specific Photo shoot with the appropriate permissions form the Site manager and the On site boss of the day.


After the Restoration is complete,

It will be a Visitor Hub,

Consisting of,

A Museum,

A Cafe,

An Art Gallery,

An Artisit's Workshop and 

A Free campsite.
















When I passed the site on the way back to Trangie, the New Toilet Block had all the Sheeting on the Walls.

The Roofing for the Verandah will be done in Jan-Feb 2021.
The rest of the Paint striping will be done as well.

Completion date will be May/June if all goes to plan hopefully.

    Great to see your photos up first and of course somebody else who must not have a job happen to race out there days later.
    With covid in sydney you would have thought they might have had the brains to stay home and not risk spreading it.

Good morning, Today is Sunday the 9th of December, 2018. This story is to do with Railway Passenger services and how they have dwidled away to a mere pittance to what they once were. In the past week or so it was announced in the Media that the Overland Train will be stopped in late December 2018, due to the South Australia Government with drawing their $330,000 subsidy to help run it. The decline of Rail passenger services has been happening since the early sixties, possibly even earlier than that. Over that time several different governments, in all states of Australia have cut back on Rail Passenger services. But the irony is that the State of Victoria have been expanding their Rail Passenger services since 2004, with the Introduction of the Vlocity DMU sets, with expansion of the Fleet ever since.  Good Morning, Today is Saturday the 26th of September, 2020. This write up is about the Temple Court Station. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_Court_railway_station Above is the Murrurundi Railway Station. The Temple Court Station is/was 1.2 or 1.6 kilometres north from the above station. Here is a couple of Photos of the Temple Court Railway Line, or if you like the Branch line from the Oil Shale Production site to the Temple Court Railway Station. These Photos were sourced from the Willow Tree Then and Now Page. Here is a Photo of the Railway Station. It's location, was 1.3 Kilometres from the Murrurundi Railway Station. The Station opened in late April 1878. To the North of the Station was a Loop and a branch to the Oil Shale Works, located on the slope of the hill at the End of Elizabeth Street I believe.
